Longshanks is in the process of acquiring Game Uplink. If you haven't already, please read the announcement and part 1 of the data transfer process series.

As we work towards merging the Game Uplink data into the Longshanks database, I want to give updates on how and when various steps of the process are happening as well as give some tips on how you can make the transition happen as smoothly as possible.

The data transfer process has begun! Yesterday, games and player accounts from events occuring before April 1, 2024 and after September 1, 2024 were processed. Here's what was imported:

• 1,350 events
• Over 30,000 games
• Over 4,000 user accounts

And here's what wasn't imported:

• Events that were cancelled
• Events that appeared to be system tests
• Old events that have no players registered
• Old events that have no games reported
• Upcoming events that were already copied into Longshanks
• User accounts that were never included in an imported event
• User accounts that opted not to be included in the data transfer.

User accounts

If a new user account was created for you, you should have received an email with instructions on how to claim the account. If you didn't, you can use the player directory to find your account, then claim the account using a button on your player profile.

If a new account was created for you but you already have one, don't worry! Duplicate user accounts can be merged without losing any game or event data. If the accounts have similar enough names, you will see them appear under the "evil twins" section of your Dashboard. If not, contact us with the ID numbers of both accounts you would like to merge.

Events & games

You should see events that were hosted on Game Uplink appear on your Longshanks player profile, both as a player and an event host.

Nearly all imported events were marked as "rated." This means those events will be counted when calculating player ratings. If you don't think an event you hosted should be rated in this way, please use the Event Host Tools to update the event settings. If you were an attendee, contact the event host and request them to make this change.

Faction selection, lists, and other registration data were imported whenever possible. Game results were copied including all relevant data except for forced winners. If the winner of a game doesn't match the player with the higher score, that result may be reported incorrectly.

If errors in events, registration data, or game results are found, they can be corrected! Please contact us or the event host.

• July 1, 2024
  • Deadline to opt out of transferring your data from GU to LS.
• August 1 12, 2024
  • Transfer of all existing player accounts. DONE!
  • Transfer of games and events that happened before April 1, 2024. DONE!
  • Transfer of events scheduled after September 1, 2024. DONE!
• August 31, 2024
  • Transfer of any new player accounts created in August.
  • Transfer of games and events that happened between April 1 and August 31, 2024.
• September 1, 2024
  • Game Uplink shuts down.
